Pinxian Wang graduated from the Moscow University and was Humboldt Fellow in Kiel, Germany. He is now a Professor at the Tongji University, working on paleoceanography in the South China Sea and beyond. He was co-chief scientist of the first ocean drilling cruise to the South China Sea, and currently leads a major research program “The South China Sea Deep” founded by the Chinese NSF. He was Vice-President of SCOR, and successively led three international working groups on paleo-monsoons and on paleogeography. Prof. Wang is member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Honorary Fellow of the Geological Society, London, AAAS Fellow, and was awarded the Milankovitch Medal by EGU.
