Prof. Jilan Su

Dr. Jilan Su, physical oceanographer, professor of the State Key Lab of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics, Second Institute of Oceanography, and also professor of the Institute of Oceanology, Shanghai Jiao-Tong University. Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World and Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. Served in several international scientific organizations, including the Chairperson of Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (1999-2003). Principal research interest has been in the circulation dynamics of the coastal oceans around China and their interaction with the Kuroshio, as well as ocean ecosystem dynamics and marine sustainable development issues.
